"Baby-house" appears to be an older term than "dolls’ house".
Dolls’ houses seem to have originated in Germany and the Low Countries, both of which have a long history as producers of toys, especially wooden ones.
An England doll’s house also exhibited at Bethnal Green Museum, is notable for the quality and completeness of its furniture. Beds, wardrobes, and dining table, vividly evoke the massive mahagony pieces made for prosperous Victorian households in the 1860"s.
